When you run for exercise, fun or competition, and unless you lived in a cave over the past few years, then you probably have heard about a GPS-see mode. If you own one, then you know how important it for everybody who is running - for cardiovascular conditioning, relaxation, or for competition.
If you have not yet seen a GPS or search for a new, you should know what features are important to have the nice, and what features you reallyare not used. I have 3 completely researched the essential features that you absolutely need to see are included in any GPS that you are thinking to buy.
Speed and distance tracking
Tracking speed and distance are key features for all GPS sports watch. In fact, these two features are what turns the GPS technology is all about in the first place. If you walk out of a course, chances are you have a goal, how quickly you want the fullCourse. The distance will not change - will take the time to complete. A faster time through a course shows the improvement and improvement means that you are always in better shape. And how do you improve your time as part of a course, then you can set your next goal a little higher.
Lap Time and Other Data Storage
Most if not all GPS Sport Watches now have a kind of on-board data storage. Lap times by a pre-determined rate indicates your level ofFitness. Some of the better GPS watches have run through a kind of "electronic buddy" if you can make a virtual running partner to help you stretch a bit in order to reach a new scheduling objective.
In order to keep runners from bored, should the clock can save in several different courses and combined these data with each course.
Some GPS sports watches have a wireless data transmission function, which can be connected to a computer, the user data through WiFi technology. No cables or USBDevices are required. Of course, these watches are more expensive, and they go through batteries faster than the non-wireless units.
Interval and countdown timer
Interval timing is a series of countdown timers, different length and run in succession. This type of time measurement is useful for biathalon and triathlon events, where the exercise is not continuous. Interval training is broken as the time step, where the practice is "steps" known. For example, aSprint, which is followed by a quick walk through an example of a break-step timing.
Countdown timer is very simple - very similar to the function on a digital watch, is this type of timer is usually included by default on most GPS watches.
Option A Nice Feature
Another feature that falls into the "nice to-have category, is an interactive heart rate monitoring. If you have a run, s the Clock "computer monitors your heart rate (pre-set foroptimal cardiovascular health) and slows down or increases the rate proposed in order to keep your heart rate in this optimum range.
If you run mainly for conditioning, then this type of pulse can be perfect for you. It is not a real expensive extra feature, even though you are not likely to find on the cheaper GPS watches. I think this one is well worth the extra money.
One feature that you probably do not need
Some of the more expensive GPS Sport Watches now offer a colorScreen and fancy graphics. While nice to look very entertaining, and sometimes I do not know the feeling that color screens are worth the price.
Color screens can be more difficult to read in the sun. If you run outdoors, then this applies to you. Color screens use more battery power. It may be bad, if you are on a marathon or long trip, where you do not have access to an outlet to recharge the batteries. And, a color display with really cool graphics may be bigger, taller and heavier than simpleold black and white screens. For my money, I would avoid, color screens.
Now, take action - you start your training run with a new GPS to see!
